Corse S
The CORSE is a mid-engined two-seater sports car with
stunning looks and performance to match. The reduction of weight over the
original car gives economy and improved handling. The acceleration is surprisingly
rapid even with the 1600 cc Lancia twin cam engine, 0 - 60 mph in around
seven seconds and a top speed in excess of 100 mph can be easily attained.
It is difficult to give accurate performance figures since this depends
on the specification of the chosen engine. However a customer driving a
CORSE S fitted with a standard Alfa 3.0 litre V6, won the street legal class
at the Which Kit ? sponsored Drag meeting in 1993 where he achieved a best
standing quarter mile time of 13.1 seconds with a terminal speed of 110
mph.
The fully bracketed chassis is fabricated from formed steel sections and
tubing incorporating an RAC certificated roll-cage with a steel tubular
hoop running inside the roof extended to the rear and continued down the
windscreen 'A' pillars forming a complete safety cage. The seat belt mounts
are located on a substantial cross member behind the seats and carry EEC
type approval. The chassis is fully jigged during construction and professionally
mig-welded, and is available in both right, and left hand drive configurations.
The body is in high quality GRP with the addition of Coremat where appropriate
for added strength. It is unstressed to eliminate any star crazing and is
finished to a high standard in a selection of coloured gel coats, with return
flanges on all parts to aid rigidity.
